Get In Touch With Your Health

In 2011 Our Health Matters touched on a number of valuable health topics such as breathing problems from COPD, care for the elderly, Lymphoma, and the state of quality care in the U.S.

What does it mean to be “in touch with your health?” For some it means getting a yearly physical based on one’s age or health status. For others, it is evaluating how to make healthy changes to longstanding traditional meals and encouraging family and friends to do the same.

We all need to be ambassadors for good health practices. As we start another year let’s all search deep for genuine changes that will benefit us. No need to call it a“New Year’s Resolution” just do it and see where it takes you. Practice that one good change and do it over and over until it becomes a natural part of your routine.

Our cover article this issue is a view into what’s different about heart disease in men and women and why women should be
concerned. Also in this issue, the stresses of losing a job, what to do when you have a urinary tract infection, and is there a better way to pay for health care?

Welcome to 2012, let’s embrace the blessing of a New Year and get “in touch with our health!”

Happy New Year.
